Didn't know that.

They're doing quite well today as well. Ben Ainslie won the 15th gold medal for Team GB.

I don't really watch the football in the Olympics.

Andy Murray just won the first set against Roger Federer in the tennis final.

Any particular reasons?

I find it a bit boring to be honest.

Poor old Australia. Silver is the new Gold.
I'm not really following it but tune in occasionally. Journalists are getting a bit of a flogging for asking the silver medal winners if they would have preferred a Gold. Most are happy but the no speak seems like they are p*ssed off? Now there's talk about re-introducing sport in a big way back into the school system. What a lot of bollocks. It's as if sportsmanship has gone again by the wayside and winning Gold is the only result we want to see.
  • United States: 26 (G) + 13 (S) + 15 (B) = 54 (T)
  • China: 25 (G) + 16 (S) + 12 (B) = 53 (T)
  • Great Britain: 14 (G) + 7 (S) + 8 (B) = 29 (T)
  • Russia: 3 (G) + 15 (S) + 10 (B) = 28 (T)
  • Japan: 2 (G) + 10 (S) + 12 (B) = 24 (T)
  • France: 8 (G) + 6 (S) + 8 (B) = 22 (T)
  • Germany: 5 (G) + 10 (S) + 6 (B) = 21 (T)
  • Australia: 1 (G) + 12 (S) + 7 (B) = 20 (T)

Team GB have done well so far, still in the running for a number of gold's too. Australia haven't done too great, they're challenging for a gold in the BMX though today I think.

Japan have appealed for nearly EVERYTHING too. Thought it was a bit unfair and out of hand, but it costs them 500€ or something silly. Good luck with that.

Can't believe Canada got a bronze in the 10k swim! Never even knew there was such an event.

Ha ha got teamGB on the sailing  and a silver in the men's BMX. What a sport BMX is. You need nerves of steel good balance and plenty of leg bones to break. :o

And I thought Spain and Brazil's youth looked promising. Poor showing at the Olympics. Juan having a go at Rafael (one of the twins) made me laugh, showed that they'd hit the self-destruct button at that point.

Daley's in the diving final, along with two or three others in other finals so we could hit the 30 gold mark. Unlikely but at least we're doing better than Beijing.

The Australian women's sailing team was beaten by England's old naval enemy Spain. They played hard and caused a foul to the Australian team so as to win a gold. A fair tactic. The Australian team was required to do a 360 degree turn as a result of the foul, during the race so as not to be disqualified. This manoeuvre though done was not done under the correct procedures and they were required to do a second turn.
Silver again. The new Gold.

The moment it was lost. The foul. Australia manoeuvred by the Spaniards forcing them to be in a position not giving right of way to the Spanish team.

The only aspect of the Olympics I really got into was the fencing and the martial arts. Aside from that, I could care less.
Today I don't need to reach your deafened ears and
I don't need to try and fill your empty heart, 'cause
All I need now is the agony I see upon your face,
That's good enough for me
In the end

And now the End is Here. Who got to see the closing ceremony. Again the sound quality of the music was abysmal for TV viewing. I almost wonder whether it was deliberate to prevent pirating the event. The opening ceremony made it to the internet but was quickly pixelated no doubt because it was copy right.
Well here's two links while they last.

Looks like the olympics are over so I'm going to unpin this but give you a few days to discuss the olympics before I close this topic. :)

For some people, it was hard to avoid the Olympics, it being broadcasted on several TV channel and pretty much on the news every hour. On the front page of the newspaper and the countdown to the first GB Gold Medal went on for some days too.
