I haven't fully decided. I don't want to live somewhere excessively crowded, but at the same time I want to be in a city, as it would provide the best chance for work. I have a friend who lives in the Shibuya ward of Tokyo, so that would be a good place to begin.

Aside from having friends there, no.

Two years or so, I would hope. I have some savings, but I'd look for work/a place to stay before heading out. As an occupation, I'm not sure. Perhaps a translator of some sort.

It looks like you will make it to Japan much sooner than I will. :P Would you not consider teaching English?

I don't think I'm cut out for teaching. It would be fun, yes, but I have very little patience with people.

You definitely have patience here.
You avatar is from where or what? How do you relate to it?

What I mean, is that I get irritated easily by mistakes and ignorance. And I know from my own days at school that some people just refuse to learn in order to annoy the teacher. My temper is horrible regarding small annoyances, so...

My avatar is my namesake. Hanako Ikezawa, my favourite character from Katawa Shoujo. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katawa_Shoujo#Major

I don't particularly relate to her as such, but I find her character to be one of the most interesting.

If you would have won a downtown apartment in you city, would you sell it, rent it or live in it?

I would probably rent it out to someone else. In the long run I'd get more money than selling it flat out.

What has been the highlight of 2012 for you so far?

As nerdy/childish as it sounds, I've managed, in the past two weeks, to 100% complete two rather large PS3 games. In general this year hasn't been good at all for my family, so any victory, however small, is helpful.

Any plans over the Christmas period? Do you get holidays in your part of the world?

Christmas isn't really my thing. I consider it a religious holiday, and as I am not religious I see little point in celebrating it.

I'm not big on Christmas. We usually go to the beach or river and kayak for the day. If the kids want to join us then they are welcome. We used to have orphan Christmas parties for people who didn't know what to do on the day.
So do you spend the day on your own or hang out with family and friends? It can be a bit of a downer of a day.

For the most part, I just deal with the gift-giving aspects of it and then spend the rest of the day in my room. Last year it was about -15c weather-wise, so too cold to go out, and the year before that I was still getting back on my feet after a car accident. So all in all, I try to ignore it.

We're not big on the Christmas gift thing either. We do get something token for our grown up kids but definitely not what's expected by society.
What's the weather up to in Devon, isn't it where you live?

Yes, it is. Currently it's very wet, which isn't much fun as I have a cold.
