Indexing starts when the crawling process gets over during a search. Google uses crawling to collect pages relevant to the search queries, and creates index that includes specific words, or search terms and their locations.

Search engines answer queries of the users by looking up to the index and showing the most appropriate pages.

An index is another name for the database used by a search engine. It contains information on all the websites the search engine was able to find. If a website is not in a search engine's index, users will not be able to find it using that search engine. Search engines regularly update their indexes.

Crawling and indexing are two such terms. If you have been in the web world for a while, you've at least heard the words: Google Crawling and Indexing.

Index is nothing but a data structure that stores the values for a specific column in a table. An index is created on a column of a table. Example,we have a database table called User with three columns – Name, Age, and Address.
